Karongi on May 6, 2022: Today, IPRC Karongi staff had a lecture, on professional ethics, prepared by the Ministry of Public Service and Labour in line with celebration of the International Labour Day 2022 which has the theme “The future of work, our shared agenda”, and voted Mr. Jean Marie Vianney Nzayirambaho, Assistant Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering as the best employee of the year 2021-2022.

The lecture was virtually delivered by Principal of IPRC Karongi, Mrs. Dominique Ingabire. She explained professional ethics required for a public servant, guiding principles and general conduct of a public servant as well as consequences of unprofessionalism on an individual and the institution at large.

She said, “In order to secure the future of work, public servants should be long life learners and have right values such as excellence and professionalism, accountability, integrity and trustworthiness, person-centeredness of service, impartiality as well as transparency and collaboration.”

“We, as public servants, should be innovative and bring solutions that contribute to the well-being of the community; be careful, diligent, polite, and provide efficient service; collaborate with others for attaining common goals; take responsibility and ownership for our actions and decisions as well as consequences,” added the Principal.

The Principal reminded all the staff to strive for keeping consistently informed about development of their relevant fields and have an openness to learn in order to perform their duties and responsibilities effectively.

Mr. JMV Nzayirambaho acknowledged his colleagues for appreciating his service, and voted him as the best employee. He also encouraged them to use all efforts in their daily work in order to excel in their respective careers.

He said “I thank IPRC Karongi family for recognizing my little efforts. Before attaining success, everybody meet challenges, failure, and sometimes think about quitting, but time management, hard work, team work and peer learning are keys to success and greatest achievements in life.”

The International Labour Day is celebrated on 1st May every year, but IPRC Karongi celebrated today as this year labour fell in the weekend.
