IPRC Karongi hosts TVET National Practical Examinations, School Year 2020-2021

Karongi on June 14, 2021: This Monday at IPRC Karongi site kicked off TVET National Practical Examination, School Year 2020-2021, which was supposed to take place in 2020, but shifted to 2021 due to COVID-19 effects, and  it is scheduled to take place from this June 14 until July 3, 2021.

In this Practical Examinations, IPRC Karongi has students from four trades which are Automobile Electricity and System Technology, Industrial Electricity, Masonry and Mechanical Production Technology.

Apart from its own students, IPRC Karongi site will also host students of Industrial Electricity and Masonry from ESAPAN Ngoma and TVET Karengera. The total number of candidates on the site is 218 include Automobile Electricity and System Technology: 43, Industrial Electricity: 54, Masonry: 89  and Mechanical Production Technology: 32.

The Practical Examination comprises three levels as per Rwanda TVET Qualification Framework (RTQF), therefore the Integrated Assessment which is given to the candidates combines modules they passed in level III, IV & V.

In Automobile Electricity and System Technology, the Integrated Assessment focuses on three modules which are Battery Service from Level III, Electrical and Electronic Accessories from Level IV and Repair Vehicle Infotainment Systems from Level V. The Assessment for Masonry covers four modules which are Elevation, Wall Plastering, Tiles Work and Cost Estimation.

On the other side, candidates from Electrical Technology are demonstrating their practical skills through the integrated Assessment  that combines Install Special Switch, Electrical Motor Operation and Electrical Lighting Systems while Mechanical Production Technology candidates focuses on Drilling Machine Operations, Lathe Machine Operations, Boring Machine Operations, Milling Machine Operations and Hacksawing.

At the end of these Integrated Assessments, the Candidates will also sit for theoretical examinations. The TVET National Practical Examination which was previously under Rwanda Polytechnic supervision, from now on is coordinated by National Examination and Schools Inspection Authority (NESA) established on 15th October, 2020.
