Labour Day 2023: Jean Paul Habimana was voted as the Best Professional and Ethical Employee of the year 2022-2023

On 25th May 2023, IPRC Karongi staff celebrated the World day for occupational safety and health, in the theme “Occupational Safety and Health, a Fundamental Right at Work” which was combined with the the International Labour day 2023 that was celebrated on 1st May 2023 under the theme “Promoting skills and productive (decent) jobs for our common better future”.

The Corporate Services Division Manager, Mr. Antoine Rudaharana delivered to the staff a public talk around the theme of the International Labour Day 2023, and urged them to always demonstrate professional ethics required for public servants.

Prior to voting the best employee of the year 2022-2023 as part of Labour Day celebration, the Corporate Services Division Manager detailed to the staff guidelines for selecting and awarding the best professional and ethical employee in public institutions including criteria to determine this employee.

Understanding all guidelines and criteria, the staff voted Mr. Jean Paul Habimana, Accountant the best professional and ethical employee of the year 2022-2023. He was determined to fulfill required qualities include creativity, consistency & punctuality, team work, willingness to learn from others and improve performance, willingness to take additional responsibilities beyond regular job assignments among others.

The Deputy Principal in charge of Academics and Training, Mr. Leonard Manirambona called upon the participants particularly the teaching staff to emphasize research and make it a culture to impart to their students for promoting skills and decent jobs for our common better future.

In her remarks, Mrs. Dominique Ingabire, the Principal of IPRC Karongi provided with all staff the overview of the college activities such as achievements, on-going and future projects. She commended the staff for their contribution in achieving the institution’s mandate. She also encouraged them to keep on the spirit, and improve where necessary so as to achieve more.

Selection and recognition of the best professional and ethical employee intends to:

  • Recognize and promote positive behaviors that support individual, groups, units and or departments in achieving the institution’s mandate;
  • Improve employee productivity and quality service delivery;
  • Assist in creating a culture of mutual respect, reward, and recognition for employees at all levels;
  • Raise awareness on the value of recognizing employees’ professionalism and ethics and the positive effect it has on employees’ engagement, service delivery, health and wellbeing, attraction and retention and overall organizational success.

The Principal acknowledged staff for their contribution to the college achievements.

DPAT called upon teaching staff to make research a habit to impart to the students.
