IPRC Karongi students emerge NIRDA's creative award worth 10,000,000 FRW

On 9th December 2022, IPRC Karongi students who participated in Innovate for cow Bio hackthon competition under the Cow in the Car Project by National Industrial Research and Development Agency (NIRDA) bagged overall award worth 10,000,000 FRW during Research and Innovation Demo Day event which took place in Huye District.

The winners are Emmanuel Tuyizere and David Tuyishime, IPRC Karongi students with their co-innovator Fausta Tumukunde from IPRC Kigali. They produced an innovative project of Cow Dung Briquettes Producing Machine.

Prior to this Demo day, all participants to the Innovate for Cow Biohackathon competition were incubated for 3 months in NIRDA’s life Sciences laboratory and STEM labo box to improve their products. They also acquired business development services and intellectual property rights and management skills.
