IPRC Karongi Teaching staff to be trained on PLC & KNX under "Diaspora Engagement in TVET Sector" project
Karongi on August 10, 2021: From today, IPRC Karongi 17 teaching staff from Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Mechanical Engineering Departments are participating to a three weeks Training of Trainers (ToT) on PLC and KNX (automation).
KNX is a technology which controls the automation of integral functions of a residential, commercial or industrial buildings such as lighting systems, audio, video, white goods, security, energy management, remote control etc.
Whereas PLC which stands for Programmable Logic Controller are industrial computers used to control different electro-mechanical processes for use in manufacturing, plants or other automation environments.
Officially opening the ToT, the Principal of IPRC Karongi Mrs. Dominique Ingabire urged the participants to benefit from the training as much as possible so that they can share that skills with others.
"This is something to be proud of, I want you to be the people who will be able to teach KNX and PLC to other people and other colleges in future," said the Principal.
She added, "The task ahead remains in your hands, you have to use your efforts to ensure you get more and ask questions as much as you can so as to make the sessions very interactive."
This ToT, which is expected to close on August 26, 2021, is in line with the implementation of "Diaspora Engagement in the TVET Sector" project by Rwanda Polytechnic (RP) in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration in Rwanda (IOM Rwanda).
It is facilitated by Didier Mukiza, a Rwandan Diaspora professional living in Germany. Didier has expertise in KNX and Production and manufacturing in mechanical.
The "Diaspora Engagement in the TVET Sector" project aims at bringing on board skilled Rwandans residing in Europe to transfer their skills, knowledge and technologies through training of trainers program and provide support to ten selected innovative projects within RP's Integrated Polytechnic Regional Colleges (IPRCs).
