Over 400 IPRC Karongi students graduate from Rwanda Polytechnic 5th Graduation ceremony
Kigali, on 12th May, 2022: 411 students from IPRC Karongi were awarded Advanced Diploma certificates this Thursday during Rwanda Polytechnic 5th Graduation ceremony which took place at IPRC Kigali stadium.
The graduates are from our four Departments namely Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Hospitality Management, Information & Communication Technology, and Mechanical Engineering with Electrical Technology (105), Hospitality Management (14), Information Technology (154), Automobile Technology (82), and Production & Manufacturing Technology (56) options respectively.
The Graduation was presided over by Hon. Claudette Irere, Minister of State in charge of ICT and TVET. She congratulated the graduates on their significant academic achievements and urged them to continue working hard.
“It is my privilege and pleasure to congratulate all the graduates for this significant academic achievement. It is a major milestone in your lives that no many have been fortunate enough to make it far for various reasons,” the Minister of State addressing the graduates. She added, “Dear graduates, we recognize time, effort and work that you put in to reach this point. Hard work should always continue to be a part of your work. You have to always work and work more.”
In her remarks, Ag. Vice Chancellor of Rwanda Polytechnic, Dr. Sylvie Mucyo reminded the graduates to uphold the cultural values as they will help them to contribute to the development of the Country.
She said, “Dear Graduates, the practical and entrepreneurial skills gained from Rwanda Polytechnic accompanied with values of excellence, patriotism, loyalty and respect, they are not only self-help and lifesaving skills required to create jobs and compete in the labour market, but also they are skills required to contribute to the attainment of the social and economic transformation, one of the three pillars of the National strategy for transformation.”
“I encourage you to embrace challenges as you progress, continue to seize opportunities to learn, grow, innovate, adapt and be resilient. Whatever you choose to do next, remember that learning is a lifelong journey.” “I also cheer you on making difference in the community in your own unique ways, because you possess the knowledge, the skills that are confer by an excellent education,” added the Ag. Vice Chancellor.
In this graduation, the total number of 2753 students, including 622 females and 2131 males, were awarded Diploma and Advanced Diploma Certificates. The graduates completed their programs in Academic Year 2020/2021 from eight Integrated Polytechnic Regional Colleges (IPRCs) that constitute Rwanda Polytechnic namely IPRC Karongi, IPRC Gishari, IPRC Huye, IPRC Kigali, IPRC Kitabi, IPRC Musanze, IPRC Ngoma and IPRC Tumba.
They all pursued Civil Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Hospitality, Information and Communication Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Wildlife Management, Tourism, Forest Resources Management, Irrigation and Water Engineering, Forestry and Veterinary Technology programs.
So far, Rwanda Polytechnic held its maiden graduation ceremony on 28th June, 2018 with a total number of 1,882 graduates, the second on 21st March, 2019 with 2088 graduates, the third on 25th October, 2019 with 2398 graduates, and the fourth graduation on 6th May, 2021 with a total number of 3049 graduates.
The Minister of State in charge of ITC and TVET presided over the RP 5th Graduation Ceremony.
The Ag. Vice Chancellor urged the graduates to uphold cultural values, and make difference in the community.
