During the Rwanda Polytechnic (RP) 5th Graduation ceremony which took place at IPRC Kigali stadium on 12th May, 2022, two graduates of IPRC Karongi were awarded among the best performers.

The awardees are Leonce Niyonshuti who picked two awards as Rwanda Polytechnic overall best performer and IPRC Karongi best performer as well as Sandrine Umwiza who was awarded as the best female performer in STEM related programs.

Apart from the best innovation project that was awarded a cheque worth 600,000 FRW, in this Graduation ceremony, RP awarded best performer students grouped in two specifically best performers from each RP College, from which one was awarded as the overall best performer, and two best female performers in STEM related programs.

They were all given cheques worth 500,000 FRW each. RP students who won medals in the WorldSkills Africa competition, held in Swakopmund, Namibia from 28th March to 2nd April, 2022, were also recognized and awarded during the ceremony.

Leonce and Sandrine graduated from Mechanical Engineering Department in Production & Manufacturing Technology and Automobile Technology options respectively. They acknowledged IPRC Karongi, their trainers particularly, and encouraged their fellows to work hard in order to be successful.

Sandrine said, “I was so excited to receive this award. My classmates and lecturers used to tell me that I will make it because I deserved so, but I didn’t expect to excel in whole Rwanda Polytechnic.” “I recommend those who are still studying especially girls to be zealful in their studies, have a passion for their career, work hard to the extent they feel pain, because it’s a pride to sweat for what you like,” Sandrine encouraged her fellows.

“I was so cheerful when I was declared the overall best performer because it was like harvesting the fruits of all efforts I invested in studying,” said Leonce Niyonshuti. He added that he reached this because he aimed to hounour and never betray the country which entrusted him with a study loan, therefore through hard work and time management he executed his responsibility as a student.

“I am grateful to IPRC Karongi as I achieved all this thanks to its trainers. With great respect, I will continue to do my best so that they will always be proud of me,” Leonce ascertained.

The management and staff of IPRC Karongi especially trainers congratulated and recognized Leonce and Sandrine for making them and the institution at large proud with their achieved milestone.
