Sylvestre Niyomugabo, our graduate emerges best performer award worth 500,000 FRW
During the Rwanda Polytechnic (RP) 6th graduation ceremony which was held in Kigali at BK Arena on 31st May, 2023, Niyomugabo Sylvestre, IPRC Karongi graduate in Hospitality Management was awarded, as the best performer at the college level, a cheque worth 500,000 FRW.
He was awarded among other students who made excellent performance in their studies as RP has a culture to recognize and reward its students who excel in their academic endeavours, a commitment to promote excellence.
In this RP 6th Graduation ceremony, the awards were divided into four categories. There was an award for best performer per college, overall best female performer award, overall best project award and specific awards from partners to specific fields of education.
The best female performer was awarded as a gesture of recognition and encouraging other peer female students to chase excellence in their studies, and Uwase Joselyne, a graduate from IPRC Musanze, Program of Hospitality Management emerged the Overall Best Female Award worth 500,000 FRW.
Niyibizi Yves Clement from IPRC Kitabi, Program of Forest Engineering and Wood Technology whose the project entitled: Manufacturing of Wood Plastic Composite emerged the Overall Best Project Award worth 3,000,000 FRW. This award for the best innovative project selected from the final year projects of this class of 2023 aimed to continue promoting innovation culture among RP students and staff.
For the awards from RP Partners to specific fields of education, Alpha Milk awarded a laptop computer to Isezerano Ntawigenga Kevin, the best student in food Technology program at IPRC Musanze. On the other hand, Rwanda Electronic Motors (REM) Ltd awarded Twizeyimana Emmanuel, a graduate in Automobile Technology at IPRC Gishari, an electronic motorbike.

In her address on behalf of all her fellow graduates, Umutoniwase Fabiola vitalized her colleagues to not only focus on their individual success but also to think of the impact they can make on the world around them. She also acknowledged the Government of Rwanda for the resources put in, to make sure that they get employable skills, and be able to create own jobs.
She said, “Beyond our individual success, we must also think of the impact we can make on the world around us. We have the power to make a positive impact on our communities, our country Rwanda, and the world at large.’’
“As we join the community, we must remember to stay true to ourselves, to our passions, and to our values. Let our time at Rwanda Polytechnic be a testament to our ability to navigate through uncertainties, think critically and solve problems in communities we live in. We must strive to leave the world a better place than we found it,” added Fabiola.
With this 6th Graduation, Rwanda Polytechnic awarded Advanced Diploma and Diploma Certificates to 2885 students, include 663 females and 2222 males, who completed their studies in different fields of studies offered from eight Integrated Polytechnic Regional Colleges (IPRCs) across the country.
The Principal of IPRC Karongi, Dominique Ingabire congratulated Sylvestre on his best performer award.
