Fina MUGWANEZA wins the first prize worth 800,000 FRW in the TVET Youth Challenge 2021
Karongi on June 9, 2021: Today was conducted the TVET Youth Challenge Competition 2nd Edition at the college level, and Fina MUGWANEZA our student in Year 1 Food and Beverage Management Option, Hospitality Management Department, with her project "Processing and improving different recipes in Cassava flour & roots" won the top prize worth 800,000 FRW.
Other winners are Emmanuel TUYIZERE, Mechanical Engineering Department, Gentil RAFIKI, ICT Department, Francis Alex GATETE, Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department, Gedeon NSHIMYUMUKIZA, Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department & Isidore NIYIGIRIMPUHWE, Mechanical Engineering Department who were awarded 600,000; 500,000; 400,000; 300,000 & 200,000 FRW respectively.
The Competition was witnessed by the Principal of IPRC Karongi, Mrs. Dominique INGABIRE, Jean Pierre HABIMANA, a representative of the Ministry of Youth and Culture, and Nicolas MUGABE, a representative of Rwanda Polytechnic.
The Principal of IPRC Karongi commended the winners and all contestants for their projects and participation. She encouraged those who did not manage to win today to continue working on their projects so that they can win the next competitions. She also urged the winners to go and represent well the institution so that they can be among 20 to be awarded at the National Level.
The principal reminded them that their projects should bring solutions on the labour market, contribute and bring changes to the living of Rwandans at large.
The Ministry of Youth and Culture representative said that the efforts that were put in TVET brought fruits, and TVET Youth Challenge came as another effort to support TVET Students. Jean Pierre added that the Challenge budget and the number of awardees will keep increasing as years will come, he therefore encouraged the participants to get ready for participating in next years' Challenges.
Nicolas MUGABE who represented Rwanda Polytechnic in this event said that before leaving the office, the Vice Chancellor gave him a message to transmit to the contestants. He said, "When I was about to come here, the VC requested me to tell you to make us proud."
"Top 6 from you will have a boot camp in which you will meet others from IPRCs and Private polytechnics, we want you to prove that you master what you acquire, and that it can change the life of Rwandans," added Nicolas.
The Challenge contestants especially winners expressed their gratitude to the Ministry of Youth and Culture and their partners for helping them to realize their dreams. They promised to make good use of supports they were given and put all of their efforts to make their projects beneficial to the Rwandan Community.

TVET Youth Challenge 2nd Edition, IPRC Karongi holds a pre-selection
